CITY-WIDE "PARTY IN THE PARKS" CELEBRATION.

The "Party in the Parks" promises to be one of the biggest events of the year in downtown St. Pete. The waterfront park system will host a birthday celebration you are sure to remember! The choices and activities will be almost countless and the SPIFFS 36th International Folk Fair will be an important part of this event.

A WORLD CELEBRATION OF FOOD, CULTURE AND ENTERTAINMENT

On November 68, 2010, St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society, Inc. (SPIFFS) and its ethnic member groups presents their 36th International Folk Fair in the Vinoy Park on St. Petersburg’s beautiful waterfront, transforming it into a microcosm of the world. The 36th International Festivity is the highlight of year-round preparations.

Ethnic villages will capture the flavor of each country. Costumed villagers demonstrate time-honored hand craftsmanship and prepare ethnic food specialties for visitors. You’ll have a chance to chat informally with people who know the country. It’s an opportunity to brush up on a foreign language, recapture memories of a past visit and get first-hand information for that trip you’ve been planning. Dance, Drink, Eat and shop your way around the world as you move from village to village sampling a variety of homemade ethnic dishes prepared before your eyes. Visit the International market place. And be entertained by live music and entertainers on various stages in designated areas, including exciting African drummers and dancers, fire eaters from the South Pacific delegation, a special Lithuanian dance group all the way from Vilnius. From one end of the globe to the other, you will find outstanding performances and demonstrations from North America, Asia, South Pacific, Europe, & Africa, not to mention food, cultural arts & crafts, art displays and more…...

Be sure not to miss the spectacular Grand Opening Ceremonies at noon on Saturday, November 6, when members of the many SPIFFS ethnic groups will parade around the park, led by colorful Bands, Pipers & African Drummers.
