Calender of Events for 2013

This calendar of events will show those activities sponsored by SPIFFS and by our member groups when those events are open to the public. Past events can be found in the Archives (see below) or in copies of the Newsletter (also below).

MAY 2013

Saturday, May 11.  Serbian Pearl Annual Folk Dance Concert.  Begins 5:00 pm at the Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 530 77th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL. 

Admission is $10.00.

Tuesday, May 28.  SPIFFS Board Meeting in the SPIFFS office at 7:30 pm.

JUNE 2013

Tuesday, June 11. Meeting of the General Assembly.  7:30 pm in the Ballroom of the Sunshine Center. Selection of sites for 2013 Folk Fair. 

JULY 2013

No official SPIFFS meetings.  The SPIFFS office will be closed in July.

Friday, July 5.  Concert by the Arkan Ukrainian Folk Dance from Toronto. They have danced for SPIFFS before, and now they will perform at the Holy Name Catholic Church   (5800 15th Avenue South) in Gulfport.     Program begins at 6 pm.                                           Admission: $10.

Saturday, July 13.  Russian Festival Folk Music Concert. Performances by soloists, singers, and a 100-member Balalaika Orchestra.  Sarasota Opera House (61 North Pineapple Avenue) in Sarasota.  Sponsored in part by the Russian Heritage Group of SPIFFS.  Concert begins at 7:30 pm.  Admission: $20.

SPIFFS 39th Annual International Folk Fair

Thursday, October 31: 9am to 2pm (School Day)

Friday, November 1:  9am to 2pm (School Day)

Saturday, November 2: 10am to 9pm (General Admission)

APRIL 2013

April 9.  Board of Directors Meeting.  7:30 pm.

April 19.  SPIFFS at Shuffleboard Club: 6 - 11 pm.  Bulgarian, Chinese, German, Indian, and Vietnamese groups participating.  Enjoy playing shuffleboard with an international flavor.

April 23. Annual Meeting of the General Assembly.  Elections of Officers. 7:30 pm in the Ballroom of the Sunshine Center. 

MARCH 2013

March 8 - 10. SuperGreek Fest at St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg. A three day celebration!

March 19. Board of Directors Meeting. 6:30pm.

March 26. Planning session workshop for 2013 SPIFFS Folkfair in Vinoy Park on October 31-November 2.

7:30 pm in the Ballroom of the Sunshine Center.  All member groups and other interested persons are encouraged to attend.

March 26-27. Clean up of SPIFFS office and shed. 10 am.

FEBRUARY 2013

Friday, February 1.  SPIFFS International Ball. Click on SPFFS Newsletter March 2013 below for a report on the International Ball.

February 2.  Chinese New Year sponsored by SACA and CAAT from 10am to 4pm at Largo Central Park to welcome in the Year of the Snake.

February 9. Valentine Dinner Dance sponsored by the Italian-American Society at 6pm at the Treasure Island Community Center.

February 12.  Board of Directors Meeting.  7:30 pm.

February 26.  Planning session for a spring Asian Fest for all Asian Groups, the Board of Directors, and other interested parties. 7:30 in the Ballroom of the Sunshine Center (in place of a General Assembly Meeting).
